So there’s this local radio psa against drinking and driving and every time I hear it, I get pissed off. It’s a male narrator, and he says something along the lines of, “Look at the road. You know what you don’t see? My car. Why? Because I sold it to pay for a lawyer because I got a DUI.”
That statement in itself seems pretty ludicrous. But that’s a different post.
What gets me is that he goes on to say, “You know what else you don’t see? My girlfriend. She left because a guy with no car and no money is no fun.”

What the shit.

So, this chick left because the man she was in a relationship with no longer had loads of dough and a sexy car? Really? She couldn’t have left because her boyfriend is a jackass who drives drunk? Or maybe because he has a drinking problem and she’s tired of caring about a guy who constantly puts his life in danger for stupid reasons?

The message comes across not as “Don’t drink and drive because that’s a stupid thing to do.” but “Don’t drink and drive, guys, because you’ll lose all your money. And everyone knows that all women care about is your wallet, AMIRITE.”

WHAT? You’re reading this much in to an advert? Sorry to break this to you but there are a LOT of women who will leave a guy because he has no money. But noooo, this is impossible in your world. The sun clearly shines out your asses and you can do no wrong. He has 1 DUI therefore it simply must mean he’s a liar, an alcoholic and he constantly puts his life at risk.
